This post is part of Meli Botanicals Cannabinoids CBD series designed to help both new and veteran CBD users and enthusiasts make informed decisions.

What is CBD?

First things first. If you’re wondering “What is cbd?” then you’re in luck! That’s our first topic and a question I can help you understand better.

CBD is short for cannabidiol, a natural compound found in cannabis, a plant with a history of being used as medicine for centuries.

Is usually derived from hemp, which, unlike marijuana, contains little to no THC, the intoxicating ingredient that gets you “high” (more on this in the next post!).

So…to very briefly sum up cannabinoids, it is therapeutic without getting you “stoned” or intoxicated, and it is a natural plant-based substance that has been used for generations to help with things like inflammation, sleep issues, and anxiety.

Cannabis as Medicine?

A big challenge that I believe many people have with CBD is fear.

While society is changing regarding its view on cannabis, that doesn’t mean all your questions are answered. This is totally understandable. You are looking for a solution to a problem. You don’t want to get high.

I grew up in the ’80s and saw the government’s “this is your brain” and “this is your brain on drugs” fear campaign. Fortunately, that era is over. The government has been exposed for covering up the truth, which is Cannabis is a natural medicine that can benefit many people.

Dr. Sanjay Gupta on Cannabis

Dr. Sanjay Gupta, CNN’s medical doctor, said: “I changed my mind {regarding Cannabis as medicine, and I believe you can too.” He even wrote this in a letter to the Attorney General of the United States.

Sanjay changed his mind on Cannabis as medicine partly because he discovered that over 90% of Cannabis studies were “designed to find harm” and very few focused on the benefits. No wonder so many people are slow to acknowledge Cannabis as medicine! You can see all of Sanjay’s comments here:

Will CBD solve my challenges?

Now that you understand CBD a bit better, the important question is “Will CBD solve my challenges?”

Let me be 100% honest with you – I can’t really answer that. In fact, nobody can. Everyone is different.

However, I can share with you what I have learned about CBD – which is quite a bit.

I’ve read the science and the published studies. I have talked to literally thousands of customers who have seen success with CBD. And, I have personally seen its effects benefit my close circle of family and friends.

Here are the five broad areas where cannabinoids clearly makes the biggest impact:

  1. Anxiety & Stress
  2. Inflammation & Pain
  3. Sleep Challenges
  4. Seizures
  5. Skin Challenges

Unfortunately, those first three affect A LOT of people.

So generally speaking, if you are dealing with one or more of those, then I recommend you investigate it as soon as possible! Talk to your family and friends. Read up. And, of course, you can ask me questions.

Keep Reading and Learning

I hope this helps you feel like you’re moving in the right direction. I don’t make a lot of promises, but I will promise you this: when you’re done with our Cannabinoids Education series, you will be far more informed when it comes to cannabinoids and in much better shape to ask the right questions and make decisions for yourself.

If you’re interested in a good place to start, please go to Project Ccannabinoids and you will find a TON of science, education, research, and uses. We are not affiliated with them and they don’t endorse us, I just want you to know about an amazing resource as you continue your cannabinoids Education!
